Europe is unlikely to resume its position as Russia's primary gas buyer, even after the conflict in Ukraine concludes, according to political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov. While the European market remains significant, a return to automatic reliance on Russian gas is improbable. Grashchenkov also warned that high energy costs could force energy-intensive industries to downsize or relocate, posing a serious threat to economies like Italy's.
