Russia Arms Exports Plunge, India Top Buyer

Russia claims it remained the world's second-largest arms exporter in 2025, with sales around $15 billion. However, SIPRI data shows a starkly different picture, reporting a 64% plunge in Russian arms exports between 2021-25 compared to 2016-20. SIPRI ranked Russia third globally, behind the US and France, attributing the decline to reduced sales to Algeria, China, and Egypt. India was Russia's largest recipient, accounting for 48% of its major arms exports during this period.
