Bombay HC Upholds Life Term For Gulshan Kumar Murder Convict

The Bombay High Court has upheld the life imprisonment of Abdul Rauf Dawood Merchant for the 1997 murder of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar. The court also upheld the acquittal of film producer Ramesh Taurani in the same case. Abdul Rashid Dawood Merchant, initially acquitted by a trial court, was convicted for murder and criminal conspiracy by the High Court. The bench noted Abdul Rauf's criminal history and his absconding after arrest, stating he is not entitled to leniency.

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने टी-सीरीज़ के संस्थापक गुलशन कुमार की 1997 की हत्या के लिए अब्दुल रऊफ दाऊद मर्चेंट की उम्रकैद की सज़ा बरकरार रखी है। कोर्ट ने इसी मामले में फिल्म निर्माता रमेश तौरानी को बरी करने के फैसले को भी बरकरार रखा। ट्रायल कोर्ट द्वारा शुरू में बरी किए गए अब्दुल राशिद दाऊद मर्चेंट को हाई कोर्ट ने हत्या और आपराधिक साजिश के लिए दोषी ठहराया। बेंच ने अब्दुल रऊफ के आपराधिक इतिहास और गिरफ्तारी के बाद फरार होने का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि वह नरमी का हकदार नहीं है।
