India is aiming to develop semiconductor capabilities for everyday products like cars, televisions, and refrigerators, alongside critical power infrastructure. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw outlined the vision to build chip-making prowess, moving beyond assembly to design and fabrication. The government has committed ₹1.27 lakh crore under the second phase of its semiconductor programme to expand the domestic ecosystem and attract global investments.

भारत अब कारों, टीवी और फ्रिज जैसे आम सामानों के साथ-साथ पावर इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के लिए भी चिप बनाने की क्षमता विकसित कर रहा है। केंद्रीय मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव ने बताया कि सरकार का लक्ष्य सिर्फ असेंबलिंग से आगे बढ़कर चिप डिजाइन और निर्माण में महारत हासिल करना है। इसके लिए दूसरे चरण में ₹1.27 लाख करोड़ का बजट रखा गया है, ताकि घरेलू उद्योग को बढ़ावा मिले और विदेशी निवेश आकर्षित हो सके।
