Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has suspended the deputy jail superintendent at Theni district prison and ordered multiple transfers following a jailbreak involving 17 inmates. Deputy jail superintendent N Ramalingam was dismissed for administrative and security failures. The state government also directed enhanced security measures across all prisons. The 17 inmates, who escaped by staging a fake medical emergency, have been recaptured and will be moved to high-security facilities. This action follows another escape of two convicts from Puzhal prison earlier this month.

तमिलनाडु के मुख्यमंत्री विजय ने थेनी जिला जेल के डिप्टी जेल अधीक्षक को निलंबित कर दिया है और 17 कैदियों के जेल से भागने के बाद कई तबादले का आदेश दिया है। डिप्टी जेल अधीक्षक एन रामलिंगम को प्रशासनिक और सुरक्षा खामियों के चलते बर्खास्त किया गया। राज्य सरकार ने सभी जेलों में सुरक्षा उपाय बढ़ाने का भी निर्देश दिया है। 17 कैदी, जो नकली मेडिकल इमरजेंसी का नाटक करके भागे थे, उन्हें फिर से पकड़ लिया गया है और उन्हें उच्च सुरक्षा वाली जेलों में भेजा जाएगा। यह कार्रवाई इसी महीने पुझल जेल से दो कैदियों के भागने की एक और घटना के बाद हुई है।
