Study Reveals Gut Bacteria Changes Cause Astronaut Constipation in Space
Times of India · science
A new study, supported by NASA and led by scientists at the University of Copenhagen, has identified gut bacteria changes as the cause of constipation in astronauts. Researchers analyzed over 400 blood samples from 52 astronauts who spent months on the International Space Station. The blood tests revealed that astronauts' gut bacteria began breaking down protein more than usual within weeks of arriving in space. This change, linked to microgravity slowing food movement, may also impact astronaut health and mental sharpness, posing a concern for future long-duration missions.
अंतरिक्ष में एस्ट्रोनॉट को कब्ज का कारण आंतों के बैक्टीरिया में बदलाव
