Karnataka has made night-time attendance mandatory for doctors at taluk hospitals and primary health centres, starting November 1, 2026. Doctors must record their presence via the geo-fencing-based Kartavya mobile app after 9 p.m. daily within their designated headquarters. This initiative, approved by the Chief Minister, aims to ensure government employees reside at their postings for timely public service delivery. Exemptions are provided for those on sanctioned leave or official duty with prior approval. The move follows observations by the Upalokayukta regarding employees not residing at their headquarters, causing public inconvenience.

कर्नाटक ने 1 नवंबर, 2026 से तालुक़ अस्पतालों और प्राइमरी हेल्थ सेंटरों में डॉक्टरों के लिए रात में हाज़िर रहना ज़रूरी कर दिया है। डॉक्टरों को रोज़ाना रात 9 बजे के बाद अपने तय हेडक्वार्टर में 'कर्तव्य' मोबाइल ऐप के ज़रिए अपनी हाज़िरी दर्ज करानी होगी। मुख्यमंत्री की मंज़ूरी वाली इस पहल का मकसद सरकारी कर्मचारियों को उनकी पोस्टिंग पर रहने के लिए प्रेरित करना है, ताकि जनता को समय पर सेवाएं मिल सकें। जिन कर्मचारियों को मंज़ूरी वाली छुट्टी पर हैं या आधिकारिक ड्यूटी पर हैं, उन्हें छूट दी जाएगी। यह कदम उपलोकायुक्त की उन टिप्पणियों के बाद उठाया गया है, जिनमें कहा गया था कि कर्मचारी अपने हेडक्वार्टर पर नहीं रहते, जिससे जनता को असुविधा होती है।
