Prosecutors Reopen Cornell Gang Rape Case

New York state prosecutors have reopened a criminal inquiry into an alleged gang rape at Cornell University in 2024. A woman filed a civil lawsuit on September 16, alleging she was drugged and raped by seven men from the Chi Phi fraternity chapter. District Attorney Matthew Van Houten stated the case will be prosecuted through a grand jury. He noted that the victim's initial statement to police differed from her lawsuit's allegations regarding consent and drugging.
