Bengaluru Road Plans Threaten Lakes, Forests, Defence Land
Times of India · environment
Proposed road construction and widening by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has sparked concern as maps reveal alignments through lakes, forest land, and defence properties. The GBA has invited public objections to the provisional plans, which include roads along Lalbagh Botanical Garden and through numerous other lakes. Several defence establishments and public sector undertaking campuses are also affected by the proposed network. Environmentalists warn of significant ecological damage and loss of lake land, questioning the planning process and lack of stakeholder consultation.
