US Envoy Tom Barrack: America Not Leaving Middle East, Reassessing Role

Senior US diplomat Tom Barrack stated that the United States is shifting away from its traditional security-for-oil approach in the Middle East and no longer seeks regional dominance. Speaking at the Global Security Forum in Doha, Barrack clarified that the US is not abandoning the region but is reassessing its involvement after past interventions proved ineffective. He acknowledged that regional countries are increasingly recognizing the limits of American support.
