Supreme Court Dismisses Centre's Challenge to Vedanta Arbitration Awards
The Hindu - Business · business
The Supreme Court has dismissed the Union government's challenge to a Delhi High Court order allowing Vedanta Ltd. and Ravva Oil to enforce foreign arbitration awards worth nearly $99 million. Justices questioned the Centre's prolonged resistance, warning it could undermine India's standing as an arbitration hub. The dispute dates back to a 1994 production-sharing contract for the Ravva oilfield. The court found no error in the High Court's judgment, upholding the enforcement of awards first rendered in 2004 and 2016.
