The demonstration on October 2 was held despite the police denying permission, citing restrictions and potential disruption. The case was registered at Shivaji Park police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act for unlawful assembly and disobedience of lawful orders. The CJP had demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged irregularities in electoral roll revisions.

मुंबई पुलिस ने शिवाजी पार्क में सीजेपी विरोध प्रदर्शन के आयोजकों और लगभग 400-500 उपस्थित लोगों के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज की है। यह प्रदर्शन 2 अक्टूबर को पुलिस द्वारा अनुमति से इनकार करने के बावजूद आयोजित किया गया था, जिसमें प्रतिबंधों और संभावित व्यवधान का हवाला दिया गया था। भारतीय न्याय संहिता और महाराष्ट्र पुलिस अधिनियम के तहत गैरकानूनी सभा और कानूनी आदेशों की अवज्ञा के प्रावधानों के तहत शिवाजी पार्क पुलिस स्टेशन में मामला दर्ज किया गया था। सीजेपी ने चुनावी रोल संशोधनों में कथित अनियमितताओं को लेकर मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त के इस्तीफे की मांग की थी।
