The Airports Authority of India has purchased 19.06 acres of land for ₹278 crore to improve parking facilities for goods carriers near Chennai airport's cargo terminal. This acquisition aims to significantly reduce congestion on GST Road, which is currently burdened by hundreds of trucks parked roadside daily due to insufficient space. An existing stadium on the acquired land will be converted into a parking lot, with further development proposals under review.
