Maharashtra Unveils Fodder Policy Amid Drought Concerns

The Maharashtra cabinet has announced a Fodder Development Policy to address fodder shortages and support the dairy sector. This policy includes a district-wise plan for cultivating grasses, fodder trees, and improved fodder crops. It aims to ensure fodder availability during scarcity periods, especially given the current drought situation affecting 265 talukas. A state-level task force will assess livestock needs and bridge the demand-supply gap for fodder. The government is also implementing measures under the Employment Guarantee Scheme to create permanent assets and generate employment.
