Mohammad Shami Opts Out of Ranji Trophy Match After NZ Tour Snub

Veteran Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has withdrawn from the Ranji Trophy match against Services. Bengal coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla clarified that Shami is fully fit but requested rest himself, having bowled extensively in the previous round. This decision came shortly after he was not selected for any format of the upcoming New Zealand tour. Shukla mentioned that Shami's rest allows opportunities for new bowlers. Shami has not played for India since the Champions Trophy 2025, focusing on his fitness.
