The Odisha government has proposed including 28 additional urban local bodies (ULBs) under the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0. This expansion aims to extend the housing scheme's reach to all 100 ULBs in the state, enabling more eligible urban households to receive assistance for building or buying homes. Executive officers of the newly proposed ULBs have been directed to identify beneficiaries and begin preparatory work. The move is expected to significantly widen the scheme's coverage, especially in smaller towns experiencing growing demand for affordable housing.
