Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder visited a Moscow branch of the new Hyperglobus supermarket chain, where he recently joined the supervisory board. Russian TV footage showed employees greeting Schröder and his wife with applause during the visit. Schröder has maintained ties to Russian businesses and President Vladimir Putin, which has caused controversy in Germany, especially since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Hyperglobus was recently spun off from Germany's Globus Holding. Schröder also called for the continuation of trade ties between Russia and countries like Germany.
