Odisha, Chhattisgarh CMs Meet Amit Shah Over Mahanadi

Odisha and Chhattisgarh Chief Ministers will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday to resolve the long-standing Mahanadi river water dispute. This meeting aims to foster mutual understanding and find a mutually acceptable solution between the two neighbouring states. The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal has encouraged both states to pursue a negotiated settlement. Technical discussions have already taken place involving the Central Water Commission and state officials. The dispute has strained relations between Odisha and Chhattisgarh for years.

ओडिशा और छत्तीसगढ़ के मुख्यमंत्री गुरुवार को केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह से महानदी नदी जल विवाद को सुलझाने के लिए मिलेंगे। इस बैठक का उद्देश्य दोनों पड़ोसी राज्यों के बीच आपसी समझ को बढ़ावा देना और सर्वसम्मति से स्वीकार्य समाधान खोजना है। महानदी जल विवाद न्यायाधिकरण ने दोनों राज्यों को बातचीत से समाधान निकालने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया है। केंद्रीय जल आयोग और राज्य के अधिकारियों के बीच पहले ही तकनीकी चर्चाएं हो चुकी हैं। यह विवाद वर्षों से ओडिशा और छत्तीसगढ़ के बीच संबंधों में तनाव पैदा कर रहा है।
