Citi Now Expects Fed Rate Hike in December After Hot US Inflation Data

Citigroup has revised its forecast, now anticipating a 25 basis point interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve in December, following significantly higher-than-expected US consumer inflation data for September. This marks a change for Citi, which was previously the sole major institution expecting no further rate increases this year. The brokerage also predicts the Fed will maintain steady rates after the December hike and begin rate cuts only in June 2027.

सिटीग्रुप ने अपना अनुमान बदल दिया है। अब वे दिसंबर में फेडरल रिजर्व द्वारा 25 बेसिस पॉइंट ब्याज दरें बढ़ाने की उम्मीद कर रहे हैं। यह सितंबर के लिए उम्मीद से कहीं ज़्यादा अमेरिकी उपभोक्ता महंगाई के आंकड़ों के बाद हुआ है। यह सिटी के लिए एक बदलाव है, जो पहले इस साल और कोई ब्याज दरें न बढ़ने की उम्मीद करने वाली एकमात्र बड़ी संस्था थी। ब्रोकरेज यह भी अनुमान लगाता है कि फेड दिसंबर की बढ़ोतरी के बाद स्थिर दरें बनाए रखेगा और जून 2027 में ही दरें कम करना शुरू करेगा।
