Nifty Rebounds After 8-Week Losing Streak, But Is It A Dead Cat Bounce?

Economic Times Markets · stocks

India's Nifty index saw a rebound on Monday, rising around 1% after its longest weekly losing streak in 25 years. The benchmark had lost approximately 8.7% since August 16, ending eight consecutive weeks of declines. While some analysts see potential for a turnaround, others caution that elevated crude prices and foreign investor selling remain headwinds. Historical data suggests rebounds after such streaks can be followed by significant gains, but also warns against treating the first bounce as a durable recovery.
