Four journalist organisations, including the Press Club of India and the Indian Women's Press Corps, have condemned the detention and harassment of journalists covering protests in Delhi. The organisations stated that reporters were detained and had their phones confiscated, even after showing press identity cards. They described the situation, with extensive police presence and internet shutdowns, as "reminiscent of a fascist state." The press bodies are demanding a public apology from the Delhi Police for preventing journalists from performing their duties.
