Starlink's India Launch Stalled After Five Years Of Preparation

Elon Musk's satellite internet service, Starlink, has been preparing for its India launch for nearly five years but has yet to commence operations. Despite securing a GMPCS licence and authorisation from IN-SPACe, and building ground infrastructure, Starlink awaits final approvals including security clearance and FDI approval. The company faced an initial setback in 2021 when it began pre-selling services without authorisation, leading to refunds. Starlink is ready to begin operations once government approvals are granted, having built its Indian operations around the country's security and regulatory requirements.
