German Official Calls for Next President to be a Woman from East Germany

Germany's commissioner for eastern Germany, Elisabeth Kaiser, has called for the country's next president to be a woman from the eastern part of the country. She stated that eastern Germans remain underrepresented in positions of power more than three decades after reunification. Kaiser noted that none of Germany's current top political leaders come from the east, which can create an impression of exclusion. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's term ends in March 2027, with the successor to be elected on January 30.

जर्मनी के पूर्वी जर्मनी के लिए आयुक्त, एलिजाबेथ कैसर, ने कहा है कि देश के अगले राष्ट्रपति पूर्वी जर्मनी की महिला होनी चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि एकीकरण के तीन दशक से ज़्यादा समय बाद भी पूर्वी जर्मन सत्ता के पदों पर कम प्रतिनिधित्व वाले बने हुए हैं। कैसर ने बताया कि जर्मनी के वर्तमान शीर्ष राजनीतिक नेताओं में से कोई भी पूर्व से नहीं है, जिससे अलगाव की भावना पैदा हो सकती है। राष्ट्रपति फ्रैंक-वाल्टर श्टाइनमीयर का कार्यकाल मार्च 2027 में समाप्त हो रहा है, और उत्तराधिकारी का चुनाव 30 जनवरी को होगा।
