8 Ex-UDP MLAs Merge With BJP in Meghalaya

Eight former United Democratic Party (UDP) MLAs, who recently joined the BJP, have submitted a letter to the Meghalaya assembly informing them of their merger. The letter was submitted to the assembly's adviser (legislation) as the speaker is abroad. The legislators were accompanied by state BJP leaders during the submission. The assembly secretariat will now examine the documents and relevant constitutional provisions before the speaker makes a final decision on the merger. This move could potentially alter the political landscape in the state.
