Ranchi police have intensified security and crowd control measures at Durga Puja pandals following a fatal stampede in Kolkata that killed 19 people. Officials noted that Ashtami and Navami are critical days due to large crowds. A recent safety audit revealed several puja committees were not complying with norms, with narrow approach roads identified as a concern. Police are conducting further audits and will issue notices to violators, while also deploying barricades, public address systems, and drones for surveillance and traffic management.
