Business Standard · business

India is set to finalise a policy for stockpiling critical minerals within the next month, according to Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra. This policy will establish protocols for releasing these minerals to users, specifying quantities and eligible recipients. The initiative aims to reduce dependence on China, which currently dominates the global supply chain for essential minerals. The government is also exploring overseas acquisitions and recycling methods to secure these vital resources for advanced manufacturing. Additionally, efforts are underway to boost domestic processing capacity and develop indigenous technologies for critical mineral extraction.
