AIIMS Bhopal is under scrutiny following a report revealing significant price markups on medicines and surgical items. An internal committee found that supplies from Amrit Pharmacy were priced up to 6500% higher than those from other contracted suppliers. For instance, a 200cm extension tube costing Rs 14.27 was procured for Rs 943.49. Similar discrepancies were noted for injections and feeding tubes. The hospital's procurement budget also saw a substantial increase from Rs 145 crore to Rs 245 crore in two years, raising further concerns.
