Ghostly Dark Matter Hunted In South Dakota Mine

Scientists are using the highly sensitive LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment, located a mile underground in a South Dakota gold mine, to search for dark matter. The experiment utilizes 10 tonnes of ultrapure liquid xenon, chilled and still, in its quest to detect this elusive substance. Previous searches for dark matter have been inconclusive, leading researchers to hope this new attempt might yield different results.
