The Allahabad High Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 1.25 lakh in compensation to a man illegally detained for five days before formal arrest. The court criticised the investigating officer for his "arrogance of authority," stating he detained the man without following legal procedures. The compensation was awarded at Rs 25,000 per day of unlawful detention. The state will recover the amount from the guilty police personnel after a departmental inquiry.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार को एक आदमी को ₹1.25 लाख का मुआवजा देने का आदेश दिया है, जिसे औपचारिक गिरफ्तारी से पहले पांच दिनों तक अवैध रूप से हिरासत में रखा गया था। कोर्ट ने जांच अधिकारी की 'अधिकार के अहंकार' की आलोचना की और कहा कि उसने कानूनी प्रक्रियाओं का पालन किए बिना आदमी को हिरासत में लिया था। मुआवजा अवैध हिरासत के प्रति दिन ₹25,000 की दर से दिया गया था। राज्य विभागीय जांच के बाद दोषी पुलिसकर्मियों से राशि वसूल करेगा।
