Times of India · world

Buckingham Palace has stated that King Charles will not issue a formal apology for the Caribbean slave trade. However, the King and Queen Camilla will acknowledge Britain's role in the transatlantic slave trade during their upcoming tour of the Bahamas and Guyana. The visit coincides with growing calls from Caribbean and African nations for former colonial powers to address the legacy of slavery and consider reparations. The Palace clarified that apologies and reparations are matters for the British government, not the monarch.
