Former Inspector, Sub-Inspector Get 20 Years For Gangrape In Deoband

A fast-track court in Deoband has sentenced two former police officers, Inspector Brijmohan Yadav and Sub-Inspector Vegpal Singh, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for a gangrape that occurred nearly 11 years ago. Both convicted officers, who have since retired, were also fined ₹1 lakh each and received an additional five-year sentence under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code. The incident involved the alleged rape of a woman inside a police station after her husband's arrest.

देओबंद की एक फास्ट-ट्रैक कोर्ट ने लगभग 11 साल पहले हुए गैंगरेप के मामले में दो पूर्व पुलिस अधिकारियों, इंस्पेक्टर बृजमोहन यादव और सब-इंस्पेक्टर वेगपाल सिंह को 20 साल की कड़ी कैद की सज़ा सुनाई है। दोनों दोषी अधिकारी, जो अब रिटायर हो चुके हैं, पर ₹1 लाख का जुर्माना भी लगाया गया है और भारतीय दंड संहिता की धारा 506 के तहत उन्हें पांच साल की अतिरिक्त सज़ा भी मिली है। इस घटना में महिला के पति की गिरफ्तारी के बाद कथित तौर पर पुलिस स्टेशन के अंदर एक महिला से बलात्कार का मामला शामिल था।
