Tamil Nadu Expands Free Bus Travel Scheme to 705 Buses in Madurai Region

Tamil Nadu has expanded its zero-fare travel scheme for women, now covering 705 government buses in the Madurai region, including express and deluxe services. This expansion, launched on Friday, also added 712 mofussil buses under the Kumbakonam TNSTC division for women and trans people. The scheme now encompasses ordinary, express, and deluxe buses within urban areas, as well as mofussil services connecting towns. Statewide, the initiative now includes 12,695 buses across seven transport corporations, with the government reimbursing lost revenue to the corporations.
