Vijayan Demands Action Over SMA Trial Drugs Given To Children Without Consent

Former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded strict action after reports emerged of experimental drugs for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) clinical trials being administered to affected children without parental consent. Vijayan stated that distributing such experimental medicines without informed consent is a serious violation and called for an investigation. He criticized the State Health Minister for alleged indifference and questioned if children were being used as test subjects. Vijayan further accused the government of gambling with children's lives and ignoring opposition from patients' associations.

पूर्व केरल मुख्यमंत्री पिनाराई विजयन ने रीढ़ की हड्डी की पेशी संबंधी एट्रोफी (SMA) के क्लिनिकल ट्रायल के लिए प्रायोगिक दवाओं को प्रभावित बच्चों को माता-पिता की सहमति के बिना दिए जाने की रिपोर्ट सामने आने के बाद कड़ी कार्रवाई की मांग की है। विजयन ने कहा कि सूचित सहमति के बिना ऐसी प्रायोगिक दवाएं वितरित करना एक गंभीर उल्लंघन है और उन्होंने जांच की मांग की। उन्होंने कथित उदासीनता के लिए राज्य के स्वास्थ्य मंत्री की आलोचना की और सवाल किया कि क्या बच्चों को परीक्षण विषयों के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा था। विजयन ने आगे सरकार पर बच्चों के जीवन से खिलवाड़ करने और मरीजों के संघों के विरोध को नजरअंदाज करने का आरोप लगाया।
