Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal has accused the BJP-led Mahayuti government of large-scale corruption in development works related to the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik. He alleged that nearly 50% of the Rs 35,000 crore earmarked for the event is being siphoned off through inflated expenditures on projects like pandals, helipads, and CCTV cameras. Sapkal claimed that many projects remain incomplete and bogus work orders are being issued, tarnishing the sanctity of the sacred event. The allegations were made after a review meeting of Congress functionaries from north Maharashtra.
