Economic Times · stocks

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has proposed significant changes to rules governing SME IPOs to reduce capital raising costs. Key proposals include halving the minimum application amount to ₹1 lakh from ₹2 lakh, scrapping compulsory market making, and easing underwriting requirements. Sebi also suggested replacing paid-up capital eligibility with market capitalisation thresholds, potentially allowing companies up to ₹4,000 crore market value to list on the SME platform. These changes aim to improve accessibility while ensuring meaningful investor participation.

SME IPO
