Local Bodies Not Obliged To Fund KSRTC Depots: Transport Minister

Kerala Transport Minister C.P. John clarified that local self-government institutions are not obligated to fund the development and maintenance of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) depots. He stated that KSRTC would continue to be responsible for its infrastructure improvements. However, John mentioned that corporations and municipalities with strong revenue bases could voluntarily contribute to improving local KSRTC facilities if they deemed it necessary. This clarification addresses concerns raised by the Leader of the Opposition regarding potential financial burdens on civic bodies.
