Merida, Mexico, has been named the world's friendliest city in the 2026 Friendliest Cities Index, scoring 95 out of 100. The index analyzed over 1.2 million Reddit comments to assess how travelers described local residents. Glasgow and Bogota followed Merida in the top three. Delhi, however, scored 43.6, placing it among the 10 lowest-scoring cities. The report suggests that highly visited cities can sometimes feel impersonal, with interactions perceived as transactional.
