Buxa Tigress Explores New Habitat, Marks Territory Across 30 Sq Km
Times of India · environment
Ten days after its release into the wild at Buxa Tiger Reserve, a tigress brought from Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve is actively exploring its new environment. Her movements now span approximately 30 square kilometers, indicating adaptation to the area. Scat analysis suggests the tigress may have successfully hunted a wild boar, with potential for another recent kill yet to be confirmed. This territorial marking is significant as it introduces tigers to a landscape where leopards have been the primary predators, potentially altering the local ecosystem dynamics.
