Cornell University has labelled the alleged victim of a fraternity gang rape as 'irresponsible' for suggesting the accused were exonerated by writing essays. The university stated that essay writing was not the sole consequence for the seven accused students. Some individuals faced suspension and expulsion following an internal investigation, though federal privacy laws prevent disclosure of specific disciplinary actions.
