West Bengal is home to the highest number of Shaktipeeths among all Indian states, making it a significant centre for tantric practices. According to ancient texts, there are 51 or 52 major Shaktipeeths, with many located in Bengal. These sacred sites are where devotees visit during Navratri to seek blessings. Notable Shaktipeeths in the state include Devi Kapalini in Purba Medinipur, Devi Kumari in Hooghly, and Kiriteshwari Shaktipeeth in Murshidabad, each associated with a specific part of Goddess Sati's body.
