The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has banned all motorboats and jet skis from Dal Lake with immediate effect, citing rising pollution levels. This decision impacts around 165 motorboats, potentially affecting the livelihoods of those operating them. The court has directed authorities to use solar or electric-powered boats instead to balance tourism needs with environmental protection. While most motorboats are banned, boats used for emergency services, law and order, and disaster management by administration are exempted.

जम्मू और कश्मीर हाई कोर्ट ने बढ़ते प्रदूषण को देखते हुए डल झील में तुरंत प्रभाव से सभी मोटरबोट और जेट स्की पर रोक लगा दी है। इस फैसले से लगभग 165 मोटरबोट प्रभावित होंगी, जिससे इन्हें चलाने वालों की रोजी-रोटी पर असर पड़ सकता है। कोर्ट ने अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि पर्यटन की जरूरतों और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के बीच संतुलन बनाने के लिए सौर या इलेक्ट्रिक से चलने वाली नावों का इस्तेमाल किया जाए। हालांकि, प्रशासन द्वारा आपातकालीन सेवाओं, कानून व्यवस्था और आपदा प्रबंधन के लिए इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली नावों को छूट दी गई है।
