Supreme Court Grants Absolute Protection From Arrest To Journalist
The Hindu · india
The Supreme Court of India has granted absolute protection from arrest to independent journalist Abhishek Upadhyay. This protection extends to a road rage case and other FIRs, stemming from his investigative reports on alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple. The court stayed any coercive action against Upadhyay until further notice, making absolute its earlier interim orders. It also stopped a police notice demanding his digital devices and allowed him to challenge the road rage FIR, which he claims was staged to counter his reporting.
