US President Donald Trump announced that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be arranged "very soon." This comes as the Trump administration intensifies diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, which is now in its fifth year. Zelensky had previously indicated a trilateral meeting with Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow was planned for November to revive stalled peace talks. Despite Trump's past promises to end the conflict quickly, previous US-led negotiations have failed to achieve a breakthrough, with significant casualties reported.
