A substation failure on Monday left over 1,100 customers in Washington DC's Foggy Bottom neighborhood without electricity. The outage, which occurred near George Washington University, affected approximately 1,176 customers in the vicinity of 23rd Street NW and I Street NW. Utility provider Pepco confirmed that repair crews were on-site investigating the cause and estimated service restoration by 11 a.m. DC Fire and EMS also responded to reports of smoke from multiple manholes in the area, adding to neighborhood concerns.
