Ethanol Firm Sues Farmer Over Pollution Claims

An ethanol company has sued a farmer from Gandepalli village for ₹1 crore in damages and a perpetual injunction. The company alleges the farmer made false and misleading statements to the media about pollution caused by its factory, established in 2008. Farmers have protested the factory, citing soil, water, and air pollution. An inquiry found untreated effluents were released into an irrigation canal, increasing soil salinity.

एक इथेनॉल कंपनी ने गंडेपल्ली गांव के एक किसान पर ₹1 करोड़ के हर्जाने और स्थायी निषेधाज्ञा के लिए मुकदमा दायर किया है। कंपनी का आरोप है कि किसान ने 2008 में स्थापित अपनी फैक्ट्री से होने वाले प्रदूषण के बारे में मीडिया में झूठे और भ्रामक बयान दिए। किसान पहले भी फैक्ट्री के खिलाफ मिट्टी, पानी और हवा के प्रदूषण को लेकर विरोध प्रदर्शन कर चुके हैं।
