Hyderabad's Abids market, now a bustling commercial hub, derives its name from Albert Abid, a shop owned by an Armenian employee of the sixth Nizam. Abid opened 'Abid & Company', a grand departmental store in the late 19th century, which became a popular landmark. The area was eventually named after his shop, reflecting its significance. Though the original building was demolished and replaced by a cinema and later a shopping complex, the name Abids endures.
