Junnar and Ambegaon tehsils in Pune district are among 305 talukas in Maharashtra now declared drought-hit. This decision follows a review of rainfall deficiency and other drought indicators, expanding the initial declaration from 265 areas. Farmers in these regions have faced significant kharif crop losses due to water shortages and electricity supply issues. The declaration aims to provide relief through financial assistance of Rs 5,000 for eligible farmers, direct bank transfers before Diwali, and concessions on loans and electricity bills.
