Delhi Police detained around 100 protesters, including CPI(M) leader John Brittas, near Connaught Place on Sunday, continuing demonstrations against the Chief Election Commissioner. This action occurred despite a Supreme Court order stating peaceful, unarmed protesters cannot be detained except through due legal process. The apex court had also directed normal metro and internet services and the restoration of free movement. Protesters alleged brute force and violation of basic rules, with police registering over 20 FIRs for protest attempts and alleged attacks on personnel.
