MCD Surveys 400,000 Delhi Buildings, Finds 21,000 Violators

Hindustan Times · india

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has surveyed nearly 400,000 properties across the capital, identifying approximately 21,000 residential buildings operating commercial establishments. This means about 5% of surveyed properties are violating norms by using residential spaces for commercial activities like coaching centres and restaurants. The survey follows a Supreme Court order from March 2026 to address illegal commercial use of residential properties nationwide. The MCD plans to issue notices and initiate sealing proceedings in a phased manner, starting with zonal enforcement.

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)
