Netherlands Reports First Euthanasia Case Under 12

The Netherlands has reported its first euthanasia case involving a child under the age of twelve, which occurred at the end of 2025. The child, nearly two years old, suffered from severe medical complications since birth, including brain damage, sepsis, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. This case falls under a Dutch law allowing assisted death for terminally ill children aged one to twelve when suffering is unbearable and without prospect of improvement.
